Meet our new membership chair
For the past three years I've worked as an Art Teacher for the Wisconsin Youth Company at numerous locations in and around the greater Madison area. This experience has emphasized the importance of the visual arts education for our students today. I returned to Edgewood College and received my Art Education certification in 2011. Since then, I've been continuing my work with the Wisconsin Youth Company as well as in the Madison Metropolitan School District as a substitute teacher. I am pleased to report that recently I became the Art Teacher at Walbridge School in Madison, WI. As your 2011-2013 WAEA Membership Chair, I am looking forward to building connections and positive relationships with the members of the Wisconsin Art Education Association. WAEA Regions
| As the Membership Chair for the Wisconsin Art Education Association, I want to inform you about our organization’s focus and commitment to better communication with our membership. While today’s technology allows us to communicate more efficiently, it also has its positives and negatives. This year it is my mission to mend and to boost our communication efforts with each other. WAEA is hard at work to insure that you, our members, have full access to complete and accurate information about WAEA and NAEA events on our website located at www.wiarted.org. We’ve also increased our email communication with you to ensure that you are up to date on information you will need for upcoming events. If you have not received our E-blasts or any other WAEA email about upcoming events, we may need to update your email contact information. Some school district emails identify WAEA E-blasts as spam due to mass mailings. In other cases, when you have applied or renewed through NAEA, your information may have been updated incorrectly. Your membership is important to us and I want to do all that I can to ensure your satisfaction of our organization. If you have not been receiving our E-blast information via email, please contact me at membership@wiarted.org. Please include your name, email address and any additional updated information our organization may need so we can continue to work hard for Art Education in Wisconsin. Thank you, Jessica Jones WAEA Membership _

We provide opportunities for professional development and we encourage the study and implementation of best practices in our discipline. We provide our educators with professional leadership, guidance, and resources essential to promote art in the schools and communities of our state. We advocate for visual art education as necessary for the quality education of all students PK-12 and higher education, and promote its inclusion as one of the core academic basics in the general school curriculum. We seek to increase access to visual arts education for all students regardless of race, economic status, or geographic location. We promote communication and understanding among the various arts groups, educational organizations, and visual arts educators. Members are encouraged to participate as conference presenters, Board members, Visual Arts Classic coaches and judges, Visioneer coaches, artists and judges, or Youth Art Month organizers. Participation in YAM activities on the regional and state level is encouraged. Click on the link to visit ARTS WISCONSIN | ||||||
