Visual Arts Classic Workshop at the Milwaukee Art Museum

Feb 5 & 6, 2013 (choose one date), 12:45–2:30 PM

Prepare your Visual Arts Classic team with a workshop at the Museum. Students will explore the history and context of works of art that either relate to or are by artists in this year's competition theme. (Please note: Many, but not all, of the artists in the theme are represented in the Museum’s Collection.)

Workshop Structure:
12:45-2:00 PM Docent-Led Tour Students will participate in a 1 hour, 15 minute long docent-led tour linking real works of art to the competition theme. They will have the special opportunity to visit the Herzfeld Study Center and view works on paper in a curatorial area that is normally closed to the public.

2:00-2:30 PM Self-Guiding Time Since many VAC groups visit from out-of-town and this is their first visit to the Museum, this year we are including self-guide time for groups to explore the Museum further. Note that a chaperone must still accompany students on this portion. Our docents will assist in pointing your group to areas of particular interest to you. Teachers might use this time to allow students to take photographs, look more closely at works shown on the tour, synthesize your visit, or begin any special projects you are leading as VAC Coach.
