WAEA Budget Report 2010-2011

As our 2010-2011 year comes to an end, WAEA will be making final payments to outstanding bills for Visual Arts Classic, Visioneers Design Challenge, and Youth Art Month.  All indications show that we have balanced our budget.  We spend what we earn. 

Volunteers:  We would NEVER be able to put on these events without the countless volunteer hours of our members—art teachers who tirelessly work to promote their students’ work and organize conferences and workshops for other teachers.

Income:  Our income comes from a portion of your membership dues to NAEA, our Fall Conference, event fees and donations. The Fall Conference team led by Maria Mason at LaCrosse last year insured that all the other events this year would occur. 

Donations:  Businessman W.T. Graham donated money in support of YAM and the State Capitol Show.  We also will be able to reach out to students in need in Southeastern Wisconsin next year with the lottery winnings from Miracle on Canal Street, the generous amount of $33,000 donated by Potawatomi Bingo Casino in December. 

Expenses:  Our expenses are kept in check by our budget limits and the frugal ways of art teachers who consistently make magic happen with little resources.  I am constantly in awe of our member and Board members who donate free time during the evenings and weekends to promote art and design education.

Financial report

The income and expenses of WAEA must be aligned with our mission. 

The two pie charts below illustrate in percentage, form how our money is earned and how it is spent.  At the yearly retreat the elected board sets a budget for the next year.  The bulk of our expenses go out to projects:  Youth Art Month, Fall Conference, Visioneer Design Challenge and the Visual Arts Classic. 

The Public Relations slice represents our website.  The greatest portion of our income comes from our Fall Conference.  Any comments may be e-mailed to your Board.
