Technology
The use of technology has increased greatly in my art curriculum. In the Random Lake School District every classroom is equipped with a Mimio interactive white board and a LCD projector. This program is helpful because all students can focus and participate on the same lesson at once and work collaboratively together. Various lessons for all subject areas can be found at Mimio (connect.com), which also includes teacher, shared lessons.
Digital cameras and flip cameras have inspired new ideas to implement into my curriculum. My schools library has classroom sets of cameras that teachers can check out for various projects. Some of our projects use Flip cameras to make artist inspired movies and we also use digital cameras to edit, document, and morph artwork.
If your classroom is lacking technology or you feel you are not up to date with the new gadgets out on the market there are many options to consider. Many websites such as Donors Choose will help you setup up a fundraising account where people can donate money to your program. Also don’t forget to contact you PTA and do fundraiser programs such as Original Works. Many colleges also offer credited courses on technology.
