My name is Courtney Goss and I am now in my eighth year as an Art Educator. From a young age, I always told everyone that I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. It wasn’t until I had already graduated from UWM with a BFA in Inter-Arts that I realized I wanted to go back to school to pursue a career as an Adaptive Art Educator.
I am now in my second year with Whitnall School District, and could not ask for a workplace that offers a greater sense of community. As the only Middle School Art Teacher in the district, I have the wonderful opportunity to see these students come in as young sixth graders and blossom creatively as they grow. I challenge my students to push beyond their comfort zone, research, problem solve and thoroughly reflect on the pieces they create. Through building positive relationships, an open mind to meet my students in the middle, and the motto “Every accomplishment starts with the decision to Try,” my goal is to create a safe and positive environment for all students that walk through my door.
