Job Description


Mission Statement: The mission of the Cedarburg Cultural Center is to provide a gathering place to celebrate community, arts, and local heritage. We provide access to and participation in the visual and performing arts, the humanities and local heritage. This mission expresses itself in the presentation of the performing arts; art and historical exhibits; class offerings in a variety of subject areas for students of all ages; the encouragement and promotion of the local arts community; and the preservation and sharing of historical sites and collections.
 

Position Summary: The Arts Education Manager is responsible for devising and implementing marketable, high-quality, diverse, and creative educational programming.  In order to promote the mission of the organization, the Arts Education Manager ensures that educational offerings reflect the brand of the CCC.

Working Relationships:  The Arts Education Manager reports to the Executive Director and will be the CCC staff representative to the Education Program Committee. The position will work with all of the other programming managers to coordinate the activities of this department with the other program areas of the CCC. This position is the primary point of contact between the CCC and contracted teaching staff, and between the CCC and the arts community.

Responsibilities: The following are included in the responsibilities of the Arts Education Manager. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to meet the Center’s needs:

Arts Education
Responsible for identifying, interviewing, hiring, determining pay structure and reviewing contracted paid and volunteer teaching staff
Develops a diverse course selection of adult, child, and family classes including visual, written and performing arts
Builds database of class offerings for registration purposes
Creates products & class registrations in Ecwid storefront for online purchase
Processes class registrations
Develops a series of adult one and two-day arts workshops
Develops “Cocktails & Canvas” series
Plans, coordinates and executes the annual Children’s Plein Air contest and exhibition
Schedules use of classrooms and maintains upkeep with assistance of maintenance staff as needed
Creates class lists of students for teachers
Oversees and coordinates classroom keys for teachers
Procures necessary supplies

Conducts surveys and evaluations as needed
Conducts background checks on teachers working with youth

Artist in Residence
Develops an Artist in Residence program to showcase the work of local artists and to serve as an educational tool for the community
Procures & schedules artists each month
Provides Graphic Coordinator with information and graphics for interior signage/biographies for artists
Sets up AIR workspace as needed

Photographs artists at work and delivers to Social Media Strategist & Graphics Coordinator for online posting
Creates & conducts interview questions for video interviews and posts videos onto Youtube and/or Vimeo, and CCC website
Schedule AIR workshops

Youth Plein Air
Creates registration materials for contest
Procures supplies for sale at registration
Works with Graphics Manager to create signage needed for marketing purposes

Processes registrations into Donorsnap as needed
Plans awards ceremony
Procures juror & awards for contest
Oversees volunteers for registration
Installs plein air youth exhibit
Conducts People’s Choice voting & tally results


First Fridays
Coordinates artist booths & attends to the needs of artist vendors
Researches, plans & tests kids’ craft activities
Procure supplies needed for kids’ crafts

Oversee volunteers that run kids’ crafts and face painting

Sales
Processes class registrations into D/S as needed
Creates check requests for teacher payments
Maintains & updates budget income & expenses

Marketing
Provides the necessary written information and graphics for the production of marketing collateral in support of classes and related functions (press releases, newsletter, website, Constant Contact, postcards, Facebook, etc.)
Posts press releases & calls to MARN (Milwaukee Artist Resource Network) and other websites (ie portalwisconsin.org) as needed
Posts classes to other websites (ie portalwisconsin.org/ MilwaukeeMoms) as needed

Resource Development
Assists with seeking out grant funding and sponsorships for educational classes and works with the Executive Director to secure funding

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Familiarity with arts curricula and ability to implement classes including planning, hiring of teachers, classroom and supplies set up, and post-class surveying
Proficient in professional written communications
Working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously in person and by telephone

Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform sedentary work as well as exerting up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push,    pull, or otherwise move objects
Must possess the visual acuity to compile and compute data and statistics, operate a computer terminal, and proof read materials

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in the arts or education from an accredited college and three to five years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
