About Amy Greathead

Picture
In May of 2016, Amy graduated magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire where she received her BA in Art and Design Education along with an Art History minor. While in college, she traveled with the Blugold Marching Band to Italy, Greece, Israel, Turkey, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand. Amy also worked in a custom sewing shop every summer and her university’s costume shop where she learned how to sew everything from ball gowns to yurts.

After graduation, she taught art at Merrill Elementary School in Beloit, WI, her first three years. In the summer of 2019, Amy moved to Madison to live closer to family and began teaching in the Mount Horeb Area School District at the Early Learning and Primary Centers (K-2nd Grade) that fall. So far this school year she has been teaching completely virtually through recorded lessons on her YouTube channel and live art classes with students during the day.

Every quarter Amy has planned and prepped 10 weeks’ worth of art materials for every one of her 480 students in art folders and kits that they use at home with her lessons. At school she uses Artsonia as an online art gallery for students and families and as a fundraising tool to help buy extra art supplies. Amy is also a member of the PBIS Committee at her schools and the best Related Arts Team around!

Outside of the classroom, she tries to keep up with her art teacher Instagram and make her own art. Sometimes she makes her own clothing and jewelry in her signature rainbow palette. Other times Amy throws on her wheel in her home ceramic studio and make gifts for family and friends. She also loves collecting film cameras and everything Crayola.
