Keynote Speaker Thursday is
Cassie Stephens

Cassie Stephens has taught art to kindergarten through fourth students in Middle Tennessee for close to 20 years. After graduating from Indiana University with both a painting and an education degree, Cassie traveled to Ireland to student teach. Upon her return, she discovered that her father had sent out close to 50 job applications, some as far away as Alaska, in hopes that she would land a teaching job and stop mooching off the family. When a school in Nashville, Tennessee hired her, she didn't hesitate to make the move despite not knowing a soul. After spending many years keeping her art teaching and creative passions separate, Cassie began creating clothing and accessories to enhance her teaching units. As a means to hold herself accountable for both teaching creativity and creatively, Cassie took up blogging. Her blog, often referred to as What the Art Teacher Wore, showcases her weekly wears, art lessons and DIY's. She firmly believes that finding and using your creative passions in the classroom will not only make you a happy teacher but also a better one.
